Advertising Programme Terms

Last updated: 16 October 2026

Effective: 18 October 2026

1. Key terms

Your payment is your ad budget (spent with Meta at cost) plus a 25% TutorBoost management fee on top. Ads run in TutorBoost’s name, from TutorBoost’s own ad account and Page, only after we approve them and you choose to launch. Unspent budget is refundable on request. Results are not guaranteed.

The advertising programme is optional, is offered only when it is switched on in your account, and is separate from Pro. These terms apply in addition to the Tutor Agreement.

2. How it works

  • These are TutorBoost’s own ads for its directory: each ad promotes your listing on tutorboost.org and links to your TutorBoost profile. TutorBoost is the advertiser; it does not act as your agent or place ads on your behalf in your name.
  • TutorBoost runs ads on Facebook and Instagram that promote your TutorBoost profile. The ads are run by TutorBoost, in TutorBoost’s name, from TutorBoost’s own Meta ad account and Page. You do not need, and we do not use, an ad account of your own.
  • You choose an ad budget of at least $50 and pay it in advance together with the management fee. Payment adds to your ad balance; it never starts an ad by itself.
  • You create the ad from your profile (text, image and the audience options offered) and submit it. We review every ad before it can run. We may ask for changes or decline an ad that breaks section 5 or Meta’s rules; we will tell you why.
  • After approval, you choose when to launch. The ad spends from your balance up to the budget and end date you set. It pauses automatically when your balance runs out or its end date passes, and you can pause it at any time.
  • Meta also reviews every ad and may reject, limit or stop it under its own policies. We are not responsible for Meta’s decisions or delivery, but we will tell you and you can edit and resubmit or ask for a refund of the unspent budget.

3. Fees

The budget is passed to Meta at cost: we do not mark up the media. TutorBoost charges a management fee of 25% of the budget, added on top and shown as its own line before you pay. Example: a $50.00 budget plus a $12.50 management fee is $62.50. The fee pays for building, reviewing and running the ads and for card processing. Funding ads does not change your commission or your position in TutorBoost search.

4. Unspent budget and refunds

  • Budget that has not been spent with Meta is refundable. Ask from your ads page or by emailing support@tutorboost.org, and we will pause any running ad and refund the unspent budget to the card you paid with.
  • The management fee on budget that was never spent is refunded with it, in proportion. The fee on budget already spent is not refundable.
  • If an ad is never approved, or you ask for a refund before it ever runs, you get the whole payment back, fee included.
  • Refunds are made within 14 days of your request. Spend reported by Meta after a pause (Meta can take a short time to stop delivery) counts as spent.
  • If you dispute the payment with your bank, your ads are paused and the disputed amount is removed from your balance while the dispute is open.

5. What ads may say

  • Everything in an ad must be true and match your profile: qualifications, experience, prices and what you teach.
  • No promise of results, such as guaranteed scores, grades, fluency or jobs, and no invented reviews, testimonials or statistics.
  • Ads must be aimed at adults. No targeting of, or content directed at, anyone under 18.
  • No discriminatory targeting or content, nothing illegal, and nothing that breaks Meta’s Advertising Standards or the Acceptable Use and Safety policy.
  • You must own or have permission to use any image or text you supply. You give TutorBoost and Meta a licence to use it to run the ad.

6. Reporting

Your ads page shows, for each ad, its status, the budget, the amount spent, impressions and clicks, as reported to us by Meta. Meta’s figures can be revised after the fact. Your ad is labelled as sponsored by Meta. Meta and EU law may require ads to show who paid for them and who benefits from them; the ads will name TutorBoost and may name you.

7. No guaranteed results

Ads can increase how many people see your profile. They do not guarantee views, clicks, enquiries, students, bookings or income, and past results do not predict future ones.

8. Ending or changing the programme

You can stop at any time and ask for your unspent budget under section 4. We may stop offering the programme or stop a particular ad; if we do, we refund your unspent budget and the proportionate fee. We will give you at least 15 days’ notice of changes to these terms, and at least 30 days’ notice of a change to the management fee, which will not apply to budget you have already paid for.
