How you get paid
Students pay when they book, and the money is held until the lesson has actually happened. After that it becomes your balance, and you withdraw it to your Wise, PayPal or Payoneer account.
- Currency: US dollars, converted to BRL by your payout provider if you ask it to.
- Who verifies you: TutorBoost. You upload a photo ID once, a person here checks it, and we email you the result. That check is what unlocks withdrawals; you can teach and earn before it clears.
- How it is sent: by hand, not automatically. Stripe cannot open a connected account in Brazil, so a person at TutorBoost sends each withdrawal to the account you gave us and records the reference. Withdrawals are processed within three business days.
- Withdrawal fee: free at $50 and above; $2.00 below it. That is the flat per-transfer cost the rail charges us, so one larger withdrawal always beats several small ones.
- Commission: a flat 20% on Free, 10% on Pro, unchanged by hours taught.
- Trial lessons: 50%, so you keep 50%. That is a higher rate than a normal lesson here, not a lower one, and it is capped at one per student. The category does not agree on this, so compare rather than taking our word for it: Preply charges 100% on a trial and pays the tutor nothing, while italki charged nothing at all and the teacher kept it. We sit between the two, and the comparison pages show the sources.
- What the student pays: $0.99 per booking at checkout. It does not come out of your share.

Lesson prices are set in US dollars and paid out to you in BRL. These figures are the commission applied to your rate and nothing else: they assume no particular number of bookings, because a marketplace this early cannot honestly promise you a full calendar.
Which students you can teach without unsociable hours
Most one-to-one lessons are booked in the student's evening, roughly 18:00 to 22:00 their time. Here is what that is on your clock in Brazil.

Standard time, ignoring daylight saving, so treat it as within an hour rather than to the minute. These are time zones, not a claim about where our students are: TutorBoost is early and building its student side, and any page telling you otherwise would be guessing.

What we are not going to pretend
- The student side is still being built. Tutor applications are open and the directory is not, so joining now means being here early rather than walking into demand.
- A lower commission on a lesson you do not get is worth nothing. Judge us on whether students arrive, and hold us to it.
- We can only pay tutors in countries we have a working payout route to. Brazil is one of them; a good many are not, and the full list says which rather than leaving people to find out after teaching.

Can I get paid as an online tutor in Brazil?
Yes. Brazil is one of the countries TutorBoost pays tutors in. TutorBoost verifies your identity and then sends your earnings to a Wise, PayPal or Payoneer account you choose, within three business days of you asking to withdraw.
What does TutorBoost charge tutors in Brazil?
20% of a regular lesson on Free and 10% on Pro, the same as everywhere else, so you keep 80% or 90%. Neither changes with how many hours you have taught. Trial lessons are charged at 50%, so you keep 50% of a trial - a higher rate than a normal lesson, and capped at one per student.
What currency am I paid in?
Lesson prices are set in US dollars. Your payout provider converts to BRL if you ask it to, and TutorBoost passes on a 1.5% currency-conversion cost when it does. Holding the balance in US dollars avoids that entirely.
Are there withdrawal fees?
Withdrawals of $50 or more are free. Below that there is a $2.00 fee, which is the flat cost the payment rail charges us per transfer regardless of size. Letting your balance build up before withdrawing avoids it entirely.
Do I need a teaching qualification to tutor from Brazil?
No formal qualification is required to apply. Applications are reviewed by a person, and what matters most is that your profile shows clearly what you teach and to whom. A defined speciality is worth more than a general certificate.
