Where we can pay tutors
A marketplace that recruits you and then cannot pay you has wasted your time in the worst possible way, so this page is the list rather than a sales pitch. If your country is here, you can complete Stripe payout onboarding after approval. If it is not, we say that instead of letting you find out after you have taught a lesson.
34 countries supported for paid tutor launch
Approved tutors complete Stripe's identity and bank-account onboarding before paid teaching. Once a lesson is eligible and settled, payouts run through Stripe to the tutor's bank. You keep 80% of every standard lesson on Free and 90% on Pro, at 20% and 10% commission, neither changing with the hours you teach.
If your country is not on the list
Then we cannot pay you yet, and that is the whole answer. You may still apply, but your application will be paused rather than approved for paid teaching. It is worth being blunt about because the gap is large and it falls in exactly the wrong place: Stripe connected accounts reach the US, Canada, the UK, Switzerland and the EEA, and not much else. The Philippines, which is the largest single source of online English tutors in the world, is not covered. Nor are India, Brazil, South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Indonesia or Argentina.
We are not advertising an unverified manual payout method as a workaround. Your application remains saved, is not treated as a rejection, and can return to review if Stripe coverage or a tested TutorBoost payout route expands. There is no promised activation date.
If that is you, apply only if you are comfortable joining the hold list. We will not ask you to teach a paid lesson while your country is on hold.
A different rule for students
Student payments are not limited to these 34 countries
Students in most countries can pay with an eligible card or supported wallet through Stripe Checkout. A student does not need to live in a TutorBoost tutor-payout country.
TutorBoost charges in US dollars. Visa and Mastercard have global cardholder coverage; other card brands and wallets vary by country. Every payment remains subject to the card issuer, Stripe, card-network rules, local law and sanctions, so no individual card is guaranteed to be accepted.
Stripe currently prohibits transactions involving Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and the Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as sanctioned or otherwise restricted people.
